Capture the case number before asking for documents

Search by party or known case number
Use the criminal court type and narrower date criteria when possible. Broward notes that broad party searches can be limited to the first 200 results.

Verify the case format
Felony, misdemeanor and traffic case numbers have prescribed components. Preserve the full number from the result rather than reconstructing it from memory.

Read the docket as a locator
Use status and docket entries to identify the filing that matters, but remember the search display is not the official court record.

Move to the document product
If the exact disposition is required, obtain the judgment/order or other filed record through e-certification when eligible or through the records-request channel.
Electronic document coverage has a date boundary
Criminal filings from January 6, 2014 forward
Broward e-certified documents says criminal electronic-document availability applies to Circuit Criminal Felony and other covered criminal records filed on or after 01/06/2014, subject to access rules and whether the image is viewable.
Older criminal records
For older criminal records, the clerk directs users to Court Records Request and states older court documents can require the Archives Division.
Older traffic and misdemeanor records
Records Request specifically warns that traffic and misdemeanor cases filed before 2011 were routinely purged from the main system and must be obtained by a court-record request or in person.
A missing online image is not the same as a missing case
Broward separates case information from document availability
Florida access standards, the user’s access level, filing date and archival status can determine whether an image appears online. When a case is visible but the document is not, use the Clerk’s records-request route instead of concluding that the judgment or filing never existed.
FDLE criminal history answers a broader Florida question
Florida Department of Law Enforcement is the central repository for Florida criminal-history information. The public search fee is $24. Its instant search produces an immediate result that is not certified; FDLE also offers staff-processed certified and non-certified search options.
That statewide history can be useful when the question extends beyond Broward County. It does not replace a Broward certified judgment, sentencing order or other court filing when the exact local disposition is the proof required.
